Hi, I’m Junko Yamamoto. I am an architect from Gunma, Japan, living in the US, working internationally. With my partner, I run a studio, iVY Design Associates - ideas of Viola and Yamamoto. This YES website is where I share my personal views and opinions, and my artwork. Thank you for visiting.

Hi, I’m Junko Yamamoto.
I am an architect from Gunma, Japan, living in the US, working internationally.
I am a co-owner and a founding principal of an architectural firm, iVY Design Associates - ideas of Viola and Yamamoto. This YES website is my personal studio space where I share artwork, thoughts, and ideas, which are the foundation of my contributions to iVY, and to the world in small steps.

Over the past years, I have learned so much from people I met and with whom I worked with, and from various situations with which I encountered, overcame, observed, and digested. The significant parts of my growth are often through challenges, struggles, failures, and mistakes, which culminated in the joy and gratitude after all. In this blog section, I want to share things that came across in my journey of pursuing my passion for art and architecture — basically, everything else.

事務所では黙々とプロジェクトを進めております。 グアテマラのイストモ大学における新しいキャンパス棟、スクール・オブ・エコノミクスは、やっと模型完成です。このキャンパス棟には、エコノミクスを学ぶための様々なクラスルーム、半屋外の庭園や展示スペース、そして１階は貨幣の美術館が設置されます。建物はパティオ（広い中庭）を囲んだコの字型をしており、廊下と言う概念を取り除いた、半屋外スペースがクラスルームをつないでいます。このような空間の配置は、隣接するラ・アンティグア地域でよく見られる、伝統的な建築に由来
初めた頃が懐かしい。中之条のインスタレーションは、コロナ禍でいろいろな不便がありましたが、それにもかかわらず、中之条ビエンナーレのスタッフの方々にはたくさんのサポートをいただきました。地元だったので、家族や子供の頃からの友人や知人からも多くのサポートをいただき、本当にありがたいです。滞在はちょうど誕生日を挟んだため、中之条ギフトをいただいたり、友人にもらった花火（アメリカ独立記念日が誕生日なので、花火をいただきました。さすが友人。）に加えて、ビエンナーレスタッフの方々がその２、３倍もの花火を用意
